How I Spent My Summer Vacation
by Poke'G
, Aug 13, 2010 Ha, the joke's on you! Japan doesn't get summer vacation. Or... well, they kind of do, but it's a waste considering everyone is a workaholic with not much appreciation for the finer things in life.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, sorry for the down time; I've been helluva busy with stuff. Jed had some free time for a while though. A lot actually. Not sure what's been up on his end... why not ask?
Ho-ho I'm so clever.
New Sigs and The End of Ed
by Poke'G
, May 15, 2010 Hey everyone! So as I stated in a post a few months back, Jon/Ed is being retired in compliance with Jed's desire to distance our real lives from the site. I finally found some photos that would work for the name I've used online for well over a decade. Jon/Ed won't dissappear from the old posts, nor is it likely that he's gone for good, but for the most part Poke'G (or Pocket Gojira) will take his place.
Also new to the site are a bunch of banners, logos, and a fan badge for you all to use on your own websites, forum sigs, or just about anywhere online you'd like to put them. Please use them (preferably hosted on your own space), link them up to our site, and spread the word.
And as always, keep asking those questions!
help how did i get here
by Jed
, May 3, 2010 The site says it's been up since May of 2009, so, uh...happy anniversary, I guess?
Oh, who am I kidding. This update is just to tell you that this shit literally never gets old
literally because data doesn't age
An Update in Honor of May
by Jon
, May 1, 2010 Whelp, it's Golden Week here in Japan land, which means I get a bit of time off. First order of business is doing another update.
April went over well, and big thanks to our recurring askers Soul Glo, Goat Toucher, and leethasbro. We've been trying to put shout outs where we can, and thank you all who have responeded, especially those of you from the ANO crowd. I still haven't figured out how to stop the front page from clearing each month without needing a major overhaul, so the site will be looking bare again. Keep asking questions and we'll get on them within the week!
Spread the word guys!
One Month
by Jon
, Apr 4, 2010 Hey, QNA2k10 has been up for public use for over a month now! Thanks to everyone whose been participating so far, especially this Soul Glo character. Our first regular!
The front page is looking a little bare at the moment, but that's because the site currently only displays entries from the current month on the front page. All old entries are still accessible through the archives. Hopefully I'll get that code adjusted for the May turnover, but in the mean time, keep asking away! The page will fill up, and Jed won't have to resort to online gaming to fill the empty void in his life now that all his important friends up and moved to Japan.
Recent Changes
by Jon
, Mar 18, 2010 Well, most obviously, we've just added an area for us to post updates concerning the site. It's one of the last major pieces of the site I wanted to put up so Jed and I could talk about changes at the site, make announcements, or whatever else we want people to know about. The usual deal.
I'll eventually be putting up a Hall of Fame for past Answerers of the Month, and a page for all of our news updates. CSS is really new for me, so as I figure out how to do more, you'll see subtle changes in the site layout. I'm surprised at how much work has gone into such a simple site, and it's no wonder Jed stopped working on the original site without any automation.
One of the biggest changes so far is Jed; one I feel needs addressed. There was no turn-over or anything like that. It's just that in the ten years since the original Geocities site, neither he nor I considered just how old we and our friends are, and thus how much more vulgar our humor and the internet itself had become. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but simply put: while this site is intended as a joke, and if certain parties don't get the humor there could be consequences. Jed felt for the sake of professional ambitions he couldn't leave his face and name on the new QNA2k. He's not gone or any less active, he just has a new name and avatar. I've agreed for uniformity's sake to join the switch, but at a later time. I'm not nearly as concerned as Jed about people in need of a sense of humor, so it's not a priority for me at the moment. Once I do switch, it will not be retroactive like Jed's. All the bits where I have shown up as Jon/Ed will remain.
And lastly, thank you everyone who's submitted a question so far. The site doesn't function without you guys, so keep the questions coming and tell all your friends about us!
QNA2k Lives Again!
by Jon
, Feb 27, 2010 Yep! After nearly a year of talking about it, we did it. QNA2k is reborn as QNA2k10. Sadly, Geocities shut down in October of 2009, and Jed did not download any of his websites (like I did) for preservation. The Wayback Machine saved a small portion of the old site, and I will convert what I can so QNA2k can live on as completely as possible.
As the old site is gone, the question numbering will be reset, but when a classic question does show up, it will be labeled as such at the top, along with its former number and post date.
